Volcano National Park
A short 45 minute drive to Volcano National Park from the Oceanfront House and you can experience Hawaii's magnificent, unique, and accessible volcanoes. In the park you can experience everything from lava flows to steam vents to hikes of varying degrees of difficulty. The hike into this crater looks rugged but most people can handle it and have the expereince of a lifetime! The Park Service is most helpful in providing you with all kinds of activities and information.
One of the many dormant craters you can hike into and explore! It erupted in 1964 and left a pond of lava that cooled in a unique way......It is almost completely level and flat!
New growth flowers, such as this one, and unique foliage, seems to spring up from no where after eruptions. The colors and shapes found only in Hawaii!
